Footage filmed in Gaza on Thursday shows the Palestinian man, Ali Banat, and his self-made vehicle. Banat, who lives in the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, recounted that he had been injured twice during the border protests. In October 2018, he suffered a serious injury after he was hit by an "explosive bullet" during a 'Great March of Return' protest. Banat noted that "there is no improvement" to his health despite undergoing 12 surgeries in Gaza and receiving medical treatment in Egypt. "I have been injured for nine months, and I am so bored. I was working on it [the car]. I had iron and tires, and I bought some other things from outside, like the motor," said Banat. The Palestinian man said that it took him "four months to create this car," noting that his brothers and children helped him with the creation of the vehicle. Banat noted that because of "a great pain in [his] foot" he can drive only for short distances, "for half an hour to an hour." Banat's self-made vehicle reportedly contains a motorbike engine as well as parts of an old car. He said, "When people saw the car for the first time, it had not been painted. There was just the body of the car, and they liked it. They started taking photos of the car, and they were fascinated with my manufacturing [skills]. They asked me if the car was made by me, and I told them, 'Yes, I made it myself.'"
