Afghanistan: Beauty salons shut their doors due to fear of Taliban

Several beauty salons in Kabul locked their doors on Thursday amid fears of the new Taliban government. Footage shows some shop fronts having blacked out and torn down signs.

“The government of the Taliban is unknown right now as they came they have good behaviour with the people, but it is not clear what will happen next, and as you see the façade and photos of the beauty salons were erased so the Taliban don’t break their doors and glass,” said Abdullah, a Kabul resident.

The group took over the capital on Sunday after a swift advance following the withdrawal of US and NATO troops from the country.

SOT, Abdul Qader, Kabul resident (Dari): “The time before the Taliban was a very wild world for the people and because of that the people are afraid, the shops and markets are shut, and there is work for the labourers until the people know them and know their plans.”
