Dozens of families were forced to take shelter in a school in Pashshad, Kunar province, as seen on Saturday, following fighting between the Afghan security forces and the Taliban in the region.
The families can be seen sitting in cramped classrooms, mostly without their belongings which they had to leave behind.
“Taliban attacked our area, then we left our village. We just rescued ourselves without any belongings or clothe. Now we came here and are living in this school building,” said Pati Jan, a displaced person.
The refugees, who complained about their poor living conditions at public facilities, requested an immediate intervention by local authorities.
According to official reports, around 50,000 people in the region were displaced in the past two months.
