The fighting between the Afghan security forces and the Taliban continued in the province of Jowzjan on Monday.

The footage shows the security forces compiled of the Afghan troops, Marshal Dostum’s forces, and other militiamen firing shots in the direction of the Taliban fighters.

“This operation was successful, at least 14 members of the Taliban were wounded and our security forces advanced two kilometres,” said Mohammad Hashim, the Jowzjan governor.

The fighting between the Afghan forces and Taliban fighters continues in 15 provinces, local reports say.

The Taliban reportedly seized control of several Afghan border crossings in recent weeks, amid the withdrawal of the US and other NATO troops.

The Biden administration announced that all US military forces will have left the country by September 11, ending an almost 20-year deployment.

SOT, Najibullah Pahlawan, Member of Afghan security forces (Dari): “We hold weapons to defend our country and honour. There is the enemy, the security situation is bad, and we pushed the enemy back. They inflicted a lot of casualties, God willing our morals are strong, the security forces, public forces and security forces of Marshal Dostum are here to push back the enemies. The enemy has a lot of casualties.”

SOT, Sayed Hashmatullah, Member of Afghan security forces (Dari): “We are at the location of Kamarband-e Char (Fourth Belt). We are on the front line. This is the front line of the clash. We are fighting against the Taliban. There is 500 meters distance between us and the Taliban, so we are fighting and God willing there is no problem.”

SOT, Sayed Hashmatullah, Member of Afghan security forces (Dari): “I urge them please do not fight because the people, the nation is displaced and destroyed. We don’t want to fight. We are the army, we have to fight, if the Taliban fight today, we will fight them today and tomorrow as well, but the better outcome is peace. They must not fight or destroy people, the nation and homes.”

SOT, Mohammad Hashim, Jowzjan governor (Dari): “Afghan security forces located in Jowzjan launched a cooperative operation. Among the forces, there were the Afghan National Army, Afghan National Police, popular militia, and a big number of Marshal Dostum’s heroic forces also took part. Fortunately this operation was successful, at least 14 members of the Taliban were wounded and our security forces advanced two kilometre
