Afghan President Ashraf Ghani addressed the recent advancement made by the Taliban to the capital city of Kabul in a televised broadcast on Sunday. He made the statement before fleeing the country for Tajikistan.

The update followed the announcement that the group had arrived at the outskirts of Kabul, after seizing large parts of Afghanistan within a week.

The Taliban offensive follows the US and other NATO forces’ ongoing withdrawal.

SOT, Ashraf Ghani, Afghan President ( Dari): “My request is to establish phone lines for complaints and information directly to both the Interior and Defence ministries, and especially the national security forces, so that the people networks, which is the neighbourhood representatives, police compounds, local councils, boroughs are all contactable.”​
