Several local families in the town of Qala-e-Naw, the capital of Badghis Province, began leaving their damaged homes amid the ongoing conflict between the Afghan forces and the Taliban, Monday.

One local militiaman named Abdul Rahim recounted the events of the recent fighting: “This is my home that is destroyed, no door left and not window, the bomb hit four homes here which destroyed all our dishes, carpets and goods. We have two martyred and two to three wounded, I have been hurt also by my backbone, no life left for us anymore. All the time when they say its war we flee with our goods and properties, we spent some time in other places. After war we get back to our village.”

Several local families have been displaced since the recent escalation began as the US as well as other NATO forces continues to withdraw from the Afghanistan.

SOT, Abdul Basir, Local (Dari): “The Taliban were sitting inside my home, the security forces drone was patrolling, and they said they don’t hit us, they were inside the house, when the airstrike hit our home I lost two members and two others were severely injured, now we bring him in Herat hospital, so, we have two wounds, other people escaped and fled to other places, after one day or days every one become displaced, all the people suffered hardships. Look, all were displaced.”

SOT, Abdula Rahman, Local (Dari): “I have been displaced because of unrest and war, they killed and wounded people, we are scared, they say it would be war again. I shift my home because of war, if the conflict calms down we get back to our own village, if not, all the people scared during the eve of Eid as you see the people are displaced. The people are not together with their families, one is in the village, the other one is Herat, for example. All are displaced.”
