SOT, Female activist, female (Dari): “We have been gathered here for justice and rights to protest against the current government, as we see the presence of the women is decreasing by the day. And even they are being eliminated. And the cabinet that they are going announce, we scared as they mentioned that we don’t let the women here and we won’t state them in the high posts such as in ministries, or let them participate in political partnerships. We gathered here to get our basic rights, our political and economic.”

SOT, Female activist, female (Dari): “We women have been struggling around or more than 20 year. We have grown and studied, we are not the yesterday’s women. All, including current government and the Islamic Emirate, must agree this, that we women have changed. We are educated, students and we are logical, and we must be included in the government.”

SOT, Female activist, female (Dari): “And they can not lead the government well if they don’t include women, or are against education and work for women. Because there are so many of us left over, because most of our men had been martyred, and are few.” *LOOSE TRANSLATION AT SOURCE*

SOT, Sharifa Maqizada, Female activist (Dari): “Today a number of women rights activists have gathered in Kabul to protest for justice, as the women have a right to participate in the society and in politics. The Islamic Emirate have been said that we don’t be against the presence of the women in the society and politics, but there were no women in their first summits.”

SOT, Sharifa Maqizada, Female activist (Dari): “They say that the women can not join the high positions in the government but is consider as anti-human rights, how the women could not. For example, women have to participate in the political, economic agendas and programs. Today most of those women who worked in the economic sectors, their jobs are closed as they are the supporters of their families. Why can’t they have activities?”
