Restriction protesters gathered to demonstrate against the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, but also chanted ‘defund the media’ during the rally.

Participants marched from Times Square to Hudson Yards, stopping in front of the New York Times headquarters.

In August New York City made proof of vaccination mandatory in certain public spaces, such as indoor restaurants, entertainment venues, and gyms. 

However there are exemptions for medical and religious reasons.

Around 65 percent of the US population is fully vaccinated

The US has recorded more than 44 million COVID-19 cases and over 724,000 related deaths.
