At least twenty people were injured as a tornado swept through a village in Baoding city, northern China’s Hebei province, destroying several houses, local media reported Hebei Daily. Hebei Province in east China has experienced the largest tornado outbreak in more than 10 years. At least 10 tornadoes were reported. At least 3 of them were powerful. Reports are still coming in and the number of reported tornadoes is on the rise. It is reported that one of the powerful tornadoes moved directly to downtown Baoding. This happened around noon. The damage caused by the elements was “catastrophic”.
According to extreme weather naturalist Eric Wang, the whirlwind uprooted trees, tossed cars, flattened several houses and injured several people.
Wang also shared “incredible footage” he captured as the tornado drove right into downtown Baoding.
Many houses in the city are badly damaged, officials said on the Chinese social network Weibo.
More than 3,000 residents had to be evacuated.
Winds up to 160 mph overturned the fishing boat and the two crew members were rescued. A search is underway for the nine remaining members of the ship’s crew.
In Baoding, electricity was cut off, but later restored, and fallen trees, damaged cars and broken glass were removed from the streets.

A car was also seen stuck under a tree and chainsaw workers had to remove the branches. Another video shows a large passenger plane being spun by the wind as it is parked on the city’s airport runway.
