Argentinian citizens have been called to parliamentary elections on Sunday amid a tight political stalemate between the government and the opposition. Footage filmed in Buenos Aires on Sunday shows locals casting ballots while some interviewed lamented current conditions nationwide.
The 34 million Argentinians eligible to vote will have the opportunity to cast their ballots and to renew 127 seats out of the 257 seats at the Chamber of Deputies, as well as 24 members of the Parliament in eight Provinces.
“The political class has to think a little more about the people, the citizen, the people who are really having a hard time, who do not have enough to eat, give them a form, give them work and that they will value things”, stated local resident Juan Pablo Bion.
The governance of President Alberto Fernandez could be at stake if he does not secure the majority for the remainder of his mandate. If the opposition was to take over the lower chamber of Argentina, the political stability could be threatened in the short run, as several provinces are in the hands of the opposition already.

SOT, Raul Carlos, Local resident (Spanish): “And the political class would have to understand the people, the claims of the people, a security issue that is the main thing, a work issue. Unfortunately the politicians that we have do not listen, they listen to their pockets or to their ears, but not to the people.”
SOT, Maria Cristina Cristant, Local resident (Spanish): “Because there are many social benefits, I think it is one of the countries that should give more help, but we are tight, things still increased a lot and the money is not enough. Services, everything, in general, living by paying for services, the insecurity. We are full of insecurity, we cannot go out because they steal your phone and they kill you for anything.”
