At Sea: Russia and China hold first joint naval patrol in western Pacific

Warships of the Russian and Chinese Navies held joint patrols in the western part of the Pacific Ocean for the first time, the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry said on Saturday.

According to the ministry, ships covered more than 1,700 nautical miles in six days on October 17-23. The sailors of two countries also conducted a series of drills and joint tactical manoeuvres.

Ten Russian warships of the Pacific Fleet took part in the joint mission, including the measuring ship Marshal Krylov, the large anti-submarine warfare ships Admiral Tributs and Admiral Panteleyev and corvettes Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and Gromky.

The Chinese Navy was represented by the destroyers Kunming and Nanchang, the corvettes Qinzhou and Luzhou and others.
