‘Barbados: The World’s NEWEST Republic’

The Caribbean island of Barbados has officially removed Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state.

The country became a republic after electing Dame Sandra Mason as its first ever president.

Previously the island’s governor-general, Mason now replaces the Queen as the head of state.
