‘Bastille Day Firework TRAGEDY Sparks Manslaughter Investigation’

A manslaughter investigation is underway after celebration turned to tragedy at a Bastille Day firework display, killing a seven-year-old boy and his elder sister.

Scores fled as a rocket exploded in the middle of a crowd of spectators, according to Mayor Gilles Bourdouleix of Cholet, a town in Western France.

The explosion killed the boy instantly and his 24-year-old sister died of a heart attack in hospital, while six others either sustained injuries or were suffering from shock.

The incident occurred shortly after 10:40pm as crowds gathered in the park to celebrate France’s national day.

The victims appeared to be standing around 50 metres from the fireworks laughing pad.

Officials say it is too early to speculate the cause of the incident, but the investigation is already underway.
