Bears can"t be choosers! Roadside cubs beg for food from drivers on Russian motorway

A bear and her cubs went out on the highway between Tynda and Never in the Amur region to beg for food from passing drivers on Thursday.

The animals could be seen fearlessly approaching even trucks, standing on their hind legs and begging for food. The scene caused a trembling delight among drivers who stopped to see the bears.

Nevertheless, some drivers tried to scare off predators with loud sounds of horns, remembering that experts urge not to feed wild animals as otherwise the animals could settle down on the roadside for a long time, becoming aggressive and dangerous to people.

Experts also add that the manner of begging people for food is mainly characteristic of young bears. In addition, the reason for such behaviour may be the lack of food in their natural habitat - berries in particular - due to summer heat. So bears search to find additional ways to get enough fat for future winter sleep.
