Belarus: Father Frost gives presents to refugees near Polish border

Migrants who were forced to seek shelter at a transport and logistics centre in Bruzgi, near the Belarusian-Polish border, were visited by a Father Frost - also known as Ded Moroz - on Thursday.

Both adults and children could be seen receiving tangerines, biscuits, plaids and sweet new year presents. The children coloured festive drawings while Father Frost and the Snow Maiden took the sweets out of the bag.

In November, thousands of migrants set up tent camps on the Belarus-Poland border and attempted to cross the frontier. The EU has accused Lukashenko of orchestrating the migrant flow as part of a ‘hybrid war’ designed to pressure the bloc over sanctions. Minsk has denied the allegations.
