Snow descended on the logistics centre accommodating migrants in Bruzgi, near the Polish border, on Tuesday.

Children threw snowballs across a snow-blanketed landscape while other residents of the facility queued for aid.

According to media reports which cite the deputy chairman of the Grodno regional executive committee Viktor Pranyuk, heating at the logistics centre accommodating the migrants was increased to 18-20 degrees Celsius (60.8 to 64.4 degree Fahrenheit) in response to the cold, up from between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius (64.4 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit).

Last week saw the departure of the first repatriation flight from Minsk to Baghdad via Erbil, with hundreds onboard, as the crisis enters its third week.

The migration situation on the Belarusian-Polish border escalated at the beginning of November.

Several thousand refugees from the Middle East and Africa came to Belarus in an attempt to reach Poland and the European Union, an attempt blocked by the Polish authorities.
