SOT, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Belarusian Democratic opposition leader: “First of all, on behalf of all Belarusian people, I want to say thank you to the USA, that since the beginning of our uprising you standing with us. You had principle position on our fight and I have to say that we fighting for the values that are common for Belarus and for the United States. The values of democracy, of human rights, for the rule of law.”

SOT, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Belarusian Democratic opposition leader: “Our fight is very difficult. It is very difficult to fight with a dictatorship, but the USA as the greatest democracy in the world should stand with Belarus in this difficult moment and promote democratic values over other countries. And we with Mr. Sullivan, I’m meeting with Mr. Sullivan in the White House, we had a very warm conversation, I really saw an intention to be with Belarusians.”

SOT, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Belarusian Democratic opposition leader: “I asked to increase assistance to civil society, that are fighting at the moment inside the country and outside the county. A lot of people are suffering in Belarus, behind bars, their relatives. We are trying to build institutions and organisations inside the country to continue our struggle and we need somehow assistance. A lot of mass media have to flee the country, because they are being destroyed inside Belarus and they also need to continue their job.”

SOT, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Belarusian Democratic opposition leader: “Of course we talked about increasing pressure on the regime and imposing more sanctions on Lukashenko’s regime and his cronies and businesses that are supporting him. We talked about individual sanctions that are on the sanction list. A lot of people have to be added. All those perpetrators that committed crimes in Belarus, judges, KGB people, policemen and propagandists and all the rest.”

SOT, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Belarusian Democratic opposition leader: “Our meeting with Biden is not scheduled. Maybe I would have such an opportunity, maybe not, nobody knows. I have already got a huge support from the highest level in the USA and I’m grateful for such an opportunity. You know, the last time Belarusian people visited the White House was 28 years ago and since then no diplomatic connections between our countries, but we have to improve this and that is what we are doing right now.”
