Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the country intends to double its settlements at Golan Heights at a special cabinet session at the territory on Sunday.

“Our goal today is to double the settlements in the Golan Heights,” said Bennett at the meeting.

“After ten years of a terrible civil war in Syria, every sensible person in the world understands that it is better for the Golan Heights to be Israeli, peaceful, flourishing and green than any other alternative,” he added.

According to Bennett, the recognition by the Trump administration and a missing intention of the Biden administration to revoke the decision has motivated the Israeli administration to invest millions to strengthen the settlement in the territory that was occupied and captured from Syria in 1967.
