Bosnia and Herzegovina: Thousands of anti-govt protesters march through Banja Luka streets

Several thousand demonstrators gathered to protest against the current government in Banja Luka on Saturday.
The demonstration criticised the current government, which is led by Milorad Dodik of the Alliance of Independent Social Democratic Party (SNSD).
The protest was focused on media censorship, corruption and a recent oxygen scandal. Opposition parties allege that the government supplied non-medical grade oxygen to hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Opposition leader and mayor of Banja Luka, Drasko Stanivukovic spoke to the crowd at the protest. “We will have to come here and stand against them two more times, three more times, many times, we must come here if we want to break the regime, break Milorad Dodik and his power” the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) leader said.
Drasko Stanivukovic was elected in the 2020 city elections ahead of the SNSD candidate. Stanivukovic and PDP are considered the strongest contenders to unseat the current government in the 2022 general election.
