Buzzfeed announced it’s increasing their use of AI in content creation just weeks after laying off 12% of their staff. With some even asking whether those employees were laid off in favor of AI. And other Buzzfeed staffers had concerns this could be used for further workforce reduction. Buzzfeed’s CEO said that the AI is intended to make full-time employees more efficient and creative, not replace them. Open AI - the same that’s in ChatGPT - will be used to enhance quizzes, help brainstorm, and personalize content for Buzfeed’s audience.
