Truckers and protesters of the ‘Freedom Convoy’ continued blocking the Ambassador Bridge for the fifth day, protesting Canada’s COVID vaccine mandates, at the US-Canada border, on Friday.

The protesters, who have been blocking the traffic on the Windsor border bridge since Monday, were seen waving Gadsden flags.

They have also decorated their trucks with slogans such as “My freedom doesn’t end where your fear begins” and Canadian flags.

Furniture such as couches, chairs and tables have also been brought to the spot by the truckers, who have set up makeshift tents.

At the same time, the City of Windsor together with Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association applied for an injunction on Ontario’s Supreme Court that would declare the protest illegal and would allow police to end the blockade by force.

Furthermore, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, declared a state of emergency on Friday and began the process of passing legislation that will introduce fines and up to one year in jail for those that impede movement at border crossings.

The Ambassador Bridge, which connects Ontario with Michigan, is, according to the US Department of Transportation, the “single busiest land border crossing in North America.”
