Canada: Vaccinated US visitors allowed to enter as border restrictions eased

Rows of cars lined up at the US-Canada border in Surrey, British Colombia, at the Peace Arch crossing as the government eased entry restrictions for fully vaccinated Americans on Monday.

“This the first time in 17 months were US citizens, US permanent residents who reside in the US, travelling from the US are allowed to seek entry to Canada for discretionary or leisure reasons,” said Canadian Border Agency representative Jackie Tse.

Upon entry, visitors must be fully vaccinated with a Canadian approved vaccine and provide a negative COVID-19 test.

The US border remains closed to Canadians trying to go in the other direction unless it on essential business.
