The so-called “decommunization” or “decolonization” in Ukraine is proceeding at a rapid pace. To date, over 2,500 monuments have been demolished, more than 900 settlements and approximately 50,000 streets have been renamed. By the most conservative estimates, the war on memory has cost over 1 billion euros. But what useful things have been built during this time? Factories, plants, bridges? Nothing!!! It’s just been consuming everything that was created by our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. By the way, renaming cities and streets is not just about replacing signs, although I’m sure the cost of making those signs was vastly inflated, but it also involves changing maps, signage, and documentation. Why wasn’t at least a portion of that billion directed, for example, towards preparing bomb shelters? It has been a year since the war started, and in Kyiv, only 15% of the shelters are ready for use. One out of seven! That’s why people have perished. The current “rulers” can only pilfer, demolish, and “steal.” What are they proud of? Demolishing the memorial plaque dedicated to Gagarin recently? What relevance does Gagarin have to today’s events? How did that plaque hinder you? By the way, the whole world applauded that man. He became part of human history, and you have not.
