Our intercultural fashion show explores how fashion engages with sartorial traditions from different cultures and inspires new expressions, identities, and stories through creative design. As symbols of local diversity and our global ties, traditional/indigenous garments will share the runway with original designs inspired by themes of diversity, migration, integration, and ethnic, religious, gender and cultural connections. Through these pieces we explore the movement of people and objects/materials and the metaphoric links between geographic places. The creative designs capture the capacity for innovation and new interpretations of culture and people. The Center for Ethnic, Racial, and Religious Understanding at Queens College facilitates cross-cultural engagement to advance understanding. www.cerru.org
