China approves security law for Hong Kong amid US disapproval

China has approved a contentious national security law for Hong Kong. The move comes on the 23rd anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to mainland China from British rule. While the Chinese government insists the legislation is needed to deal with foreign interference and separatists, others say it’s a direct attack on the people of Hong Kong. The US is one of the biggest critics of the new legislation. RT America’s Alex Mihailovich has the story.
