China: Beijing denounces US over delegation visiting Taiwan

Chinese Foreign Affairs spokesperson Wang Wenbin gave a press statement in Beijing on Tuesday condemning the US President for sending a delegation to visit Taiwan amid the Russia and Ukraine Crisis.

“China urges the US to abide by the One-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiques, stop any form of official exchanges between the US and Taiwan, and handle Taiwan-related issues prudently, so as not to further seriously damage the overall situation of China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.” said Wenbin.

The delegation of former senior defence and security officials, led by one-time chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen, arrived in Taipei on Tuesday and met by Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu.

They will meet the President Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday.
