China: Invite-only guests line up outside brand new Universal Studios Resort in Beijing

Dozens of invite-only visitors lined up outside the newly inaugurated Universal Studios Resort in Beijing on Tuesday, as doors opened for a trial operation. The theme park is not due to open its doors to the public without official invitations until later this month.
Guests were seen arriving after receiving personal invitations, according to the Resort’s epidemic prevention and control guidelines.
“I have been hearing for many years that Beijing will open the Universal Studios, and I got an invitation ticket from a friend, so here I am,” Mr Miao, a visitor said, noting his excitement to try the Harry Potter theme ride.
“I think the epidemic in Beijing is under good control, so I’m not worried at all,” another visitor, Miss Liu, added.
Invitation tickets are not being sold to the public.
The Universal Studio Beijing Resort is due to have its grand opening on September 20, following months of delay reportedly owing to the pandemic.
