A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) blasted the United States for a report calling out genocide and atrocities happening across the world, which included China for its alleged genocide of the Uyghur minority ethnic group, calling it the ‘biggest lie of the century’, during a press conference in Beijing, on Tuesday.
“In this report, the US once again slandered the Chinese Government for committing the so-called ‘genocide and crimes against humanity’ in Xinjiang, which is the biggest lie of the century.
This lie is extremely absurd, and has allowed Chinese people to thoroughly understand of the US government,” said spokesperson Zhao Lijian.
Zhao went on to criticise the systematic racism, discrimination, and hate crimes faced by Africans and Asians in countries such as the US, UK, Australia and those in the European Union, blaming comments stirred up by ‘politicians and the media’.
“The international community needs to do something about systemic racism. It should not allow Africans and people of African descent, Asians, and people of Asian descent, to continue to suffer from discrimination and violence,” stated Zhao.
The US report, published on Monday, cites five other countries in its genocide allegations, and is designed to highlight how the government is taking measures to help stop such atrocities.
