China: Xiaomi unveils new flagship smartphone Xiaomi 12 in Beijing

Chinese technology firm Xiaomi presented its new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 12 in a live launch from Beijing on Tuesday. The line includes the Xiaomi 12 Pro version, with three 50 MP sensors and other features.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun indicated this could be a direct competitor of the iPhone 13. “We have bigger batteries and faster power supply. What’s more important? Our cell phone signal is so much better. Sometimes I think that as a business person, if you often make a lot of phone calls, it must be more convenient to use Xiaomi 12 than to use iPhone13,” he said during the presentation.
The Xiaomi 12 will sell for 3,699 RMB (€512, $580), while the Xiaomi 12 Pro will retail for 4,699 RMB (€652, $737). Though the devices are available exclusively in mainland China for the moment, they are expected to become available worldwide in early 2022.
