China's Lunar Capsule Returns Moon Fragments to Earth For First Time in 40 Years

A Chinese lunar capsule returned to Earth with the first fresh samples of rock from the moon in over 40 years.

State media said the capsule of the Chang’e 5 probe landed in the Siziwang district of the Inner Mongolia region.

The moon samples are the first to return to Earth since the American Apollo and Soviet Luna missions.

The successful mission was the latest breakthrough for the country’s ambitious space programme.
