As India grapples with a soaring coronavirus death rate, bodies have begun to wash up on the shores of the Ganges - the holy river where Hindus are traditionally buried.

With crematoriums working at capacity as the country’s death toll reaches a quarter of a million, families are being forced to take matters into their own hands when it comes to their relatives’ last rites.

Some are using cow dung as fuel as wood supplies run dangerously low, while others have resorted to burying their dead without first cremating them as tradition dictates.
