Dozens of angry neighbours attempted to attack a local man arrested on Thursday after he was identified as the alleged perpetrator in the death of a nine-year-old boy in Lardero, in the La Rioja province.

The officers found the minor “in a very serious condition and unconscious” at the entrance of the house of the suspect, who was on probation after serving a sentence for murder, the child died shortly after.

According to several witnesses, the boy was allegedly tricked in a local park by the detainee into accompanying him home.

Sources close to the investigation stated the body of the minor did not present visible injuries, and are awaiting the autopsy to determine the causes of the death.
