A driver in Lousiana got the shock of his life as a small airplane soared metres above his vehicle to make an emergency landing.

Dashcam footage captures the moment the plane came down safely on the busy highway after the pilot experienced engine trouble at 2,000ft.

Pilot Howie Guidry said that after getting into difficulties with no airport nearby, he remembered his instructor’s guidance to seek out the biggest freeway available.
