The large carrier vessel Crystal Coral was able to continue its journey through the Suez Canal after it briefly ran aground on Thursday in an incident reminiscent of the Ever Given accident which blocked the canal for days earlier this year.
Canal authorities announced that shipping traffic was not affected by the grounding of the Panamanian bulk carrier loaded with 43,000 tonnes of cargo, as ships were redirected to the eastern El-Ballah bypass.
In March this year, the container ship Ever Given stranded in the Suez Canal blocking the important waterway between Asia and Europe for six days causing a severe disruption in global trade.
