On 16 February 2021, Falcon 9’s first stage (B1059) failed to land on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. Benji Reed (senior director, Human Spaceflight Programs, SpaceX) explains what anomaly led to the failed landing. Falcon 9’s first stage previously supported five other missions: Dragon’s 19th and 20th commercial resupply missions to the International Space Station, a Starlink mission, the SAOCOM 1B mission and the NROL-108 mission.
