Police officers were seen pulling over vehicles violating speed limits and giving them flower bouquets and awareness brochures instead of fines in Al Ain near Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The gesture is part of a government programme encouraging safer driving.

“Our statistics have shown that most of the traffic accidents have occurred because of traffic violators. So we are targeting the traffic violators, and we would like to change their traffic behaviours, especially the drivers and road users, where they are a bit extreme,” said a police officer.

The initiative, called ‘Hand-In-Hand,’ comes as Abu Dhabi Police implement its efforts to educate drivers and promote traffic awareness.
