Parisians flocked to the iconic Trocadero Square alongside the Eiffel Tower on Friday, as the city officials opened a fan zone to follow the Tokyo Olympic Games.
An immense square offers giant screens to watch the games and cheer for the Bleus in team spirit, as well as various open-air spaces to practice their favourite Olympic sports.
The Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo attended the opening of the city’s fan zone and took selfies with attendees.
“Our athletes are very engaged, and I truly wish them all the best ahead. Even if the stadiums will be empty this time, the enthusiasm is there,” stated Hidalgo.
Paris will take the Olympic torch from Tokyo as the host the next Olympic Games in 2026.
