France: Hundreds of 'Freedom Convoy' protesters arrive near Paris

Hundreds of cars arrived near Paris, on Friday evening, to take part in the Freedom Convoy, inspired by demonstrations in Canada.

The gendarmes could be seen performing checks.

“Precisely for our freedom. Because basically we are yellow vests, we haven’t stopped shouting our anger since three years, there is no one who listens to us and then with all these sanitary measures it’s not possible (to live) and with all these price hikes; the fuel, all, the food. We can no longer live,” said a driver arriving from Pas-de-Calais for the convoy.

Thousands of police were deployed in and around Paris on Friday to keep out convoys of motorists converging on the capital for a protest against COVID-19 restrictions.
