France: Long lines outside cultural venues after showing "health pass" becomes mandatory

Long lines formed outside Paris’ cultural venues as people who wanted to go to cinemas, museums, sporting matches and other cultural venues in France had to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or the so-called ‘health pass’ or a negative test starting on Wednesday as France faces a spike in cases from the highly transmissible Delta variant.

The requirements will expand to bars, restaurants, hospitals, and long-distance travel by train in August, while PCR tests will no longer be free starting from autumn, unless prescribed by a doctor.

Last week, President Emmanuel Macron announced that vaccination would become mandatory for all health workers in the country.
