French President Emmanuel Macron spoke at a special event for Holocaust Remembrance Day on the “responsibility” to ensure that the memory of Auschwitz is “passed on.”

Macron gave thanks to those survivors of the Holocaust, who also spoke at the event, before commenting on the importance of the remembering the Holocaust to “enable(s) us to fight with strength against antisemitism and for the universal values of human rights,” during the event in Strasbourg on Thursday.

International Day of Commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust is a yearly, international event that pays tribute to the many lives lost during the Holocaust.
