Both Democrat candidates, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, have declared victory following the Georgia Senate run-offs.

The election was rerun because no candidate in Georgia managed 50% of the vote.

Although the Senate is now split 50/50, VP-elect Kamala Harris can now cast tie-breaking votes.

This gives President-elect Joe Biden more scope to pass legislation during his first two years in office.
