Long queues were spotted outside vaccination centres in the Bavarian cities of Nuremberg and Munich on Monday, as the 3G rule of vaccinated, recovered, or PCR-tested will now come into force at restaurants and bars due to the increase in COVID-19 patients in intensive care units.

Stricter measures against the coronavirus will apply starting November 9, as the hospital traffic light, an indicator of the burden on the healthcare system, is reaching the red level alert at over 600 COVID-19 patients in ICU.

Some restaurants, breweries, houses, and clubs are asking for 3G plus, a measure where anyone who has not been vaccinated or recovered must present a PCR test no older than 48 hrs. Rapid antigen tests are no longer accepted.

New cases of the coronavirus have been soaring in the country recent weeks, with 184,505 new confirmed cases last week, the highest of any week since the start of the pandemic.
