Germany: Berlin's 'Ringbahn' vaccination train offers jabs on the rails

A special COVID-19 vaccination train circled Berlin’s Ringbahn railway on Monday offering jabs to Berliners, although interest outstripped capacity.

With only 100 doses of Johnson & Johnson’s jab on offer, several locals who had booked online, as well as others who showed up without an appointment, were unable to get immunised aboard the train.

“It’s all a matter of chance. I don’t know how it’s organised, no idea,” said one woman who tried to get on the train twice with no luck.

According to Deutsche Bahn, boarding would be possible at every Ringbahn station. Still, the number of people expecting to hop on the train was so significant that they were advised to wait for the next round of vaccinations offered by them or to find a vaccination centre elsewhere in Berlin.

Yes, that was the reason.”
