Cleanup operations were underway near Neumarkt, Bavaria, on Monday after a lorry hit a US military convoy on the autobahn, reportedly killing the lorry driver.
Eight US service members were taken to the hospital out of an abundance of cation, although they were not injured in the accident, according to the US military.
Four army vehicles were pulled off in the shoulder lane when a commercial lorry crashed into the vehicles from behind, which caused the lorry to catch on fire.
The A3 was closed in both directions for hours due to the accident.
