German media group Axel Springer announced it dismissed ‘Bild’ editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt on Monday, following allegations of abuse of power. The headquarter of the media group was seen with lights on in Berlin on Monday night.
The decision came as the media group reportedly gained new information about Reichelt’s misconduct.
According to the statement, the editor in chief continued to mix his personal and private affairs and released false statements to the publisher’s board during a compliance procedure in spring 2021.
Johannes Boie who is currently editor-in-chief of ‘Welt am Sonntag’ is expected to be the new chairman of the three-person editor-in-chief ‘Bild’ board.
The recent developments follow a report published by the “New York Times” on the Axel Springer media group.
