Streets in the Bavarian city of Rosenheim mainly appeared deserted on Wednesday as the city started preparing for a new compulsory lockdown after becoming Germany’s largest COVID-hit city.
As the city prepares for the closure of all kinds of facilities with shared spaces, restaurants, and hotels can be seen packing up their chairs and tables for the next seven days.
“We are just about to introduce a vaccination dictatorship and that worldwide, it is violent for me, and everyone should stand up against it,” said Stefan Bauer, a Rosenheim resident.
According to the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety, the number of new COVID-19 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in Rosenheim exceeds 1,000.
SOUNDBITES:
SOT, Stefan Bauer, Rosenheim resident (German): “Yes, it’s shocking how one is working with the incidences again to force us into the next lockdown - the incidences we were told in the summer are no good and now they have to do it again.”
SOT, Stefan Bauer, Rosenheim resident (German): “Yes, but because every year they push it a little bit further last year was already heavy and this year even heavier and they are doing it worldwide.”
SOT, Stefan Bauer, Rosenheim resident (German): “Mr Soder said, we are 9 on the level from 1 to 10, at the apocalypse we are at 9. But that relates to the quality of our politicians and not to the situation that prevails on the ground.”
