‘Gigantic 75-Tonne Whale Carcass Found off Naples Coast’

The carcass of a whale found near the harbour of Sorrento has been taken ashore for a post-mortem.

The 20-meter-long whale was discovered by coastguard divers after a calf was spotted in difficulty off the coast of Naples.

It’s believed the 75 tonne whale is the largest specimen ever found in the Mediterranean.

The carcass was brought into the Sorrento port and towed to Naples two days later where the examination is being carried out.
