‘Gorbachev: Death of an Unlikely Romantic’

Mikhail Gorbachev, the final Soviet leader, who helped end the Cold War and lift the iron curtain surrounding Russia, has died aged 91.

Now, with tributes pouring in from around the word, the curtain is being lifted on the man behind the politics.

Bearing resemblance to his political policy of ‘glasnost’, meaning openness, many say the Nobel Peace Prize-winner had a warm and decent character.

Along with his political and humanitarian successes, Gorbachev will also be remembered for his love of singing and for his enduring love of his late wife, Raisa.
