Governor’s beach. The beaches of Cyprus. Limassol
Governor’s Beach is an amazing place on the map of Cyprus. The combination of snow-white limestone cliffs and dark volcanic sand create an exquisite frame for the seascape. Once the governor of the island came here to relax, swim and enjoy the magnificent views. Since then, it has been marked on maps as Governor’s beach. The beach is located between Limassol and Larnaca on the south coast of the island. It consists of several cozy coves carved into the coastal rocks. You can get to the water by stairs and ramps, which makes it easier for people with disabilities and parents with strollers to descend. All parts of the beach are equipped with free sunbeds, umbrellas, changing cabins, showers and toilets.
Governor’s Beach has become a favorite place for photographers. The scenery here is simply unreal. Coastal white cliffs - sometimes flat, sometimes taking on bizarre shapes, huge stones and trees growing right on the slopes. A sea that reflects all shades of blue. The sky is either low, covered with gray clouds, or transparent blue, endless, or painted in the pink tones of the sunset.
Governor’s Beach is public, but well looked after. Nearby are a couple of hotels and one of the largest campsites on the island. On the rocks, right above the beach, there are several restaurants with traditionally hospitable owners. Lunch will cost 13-17 EUR. The beach is not crowded, it is perfect for children, the entrance to the water is gentle and quite comfortable. On summer evenings, young people gather here to have fun in the open air. The disadvantages include the lack of shops and the presence of nearby industrial facilities that spoil the beautiful views.
