No sooner had the people of Izium reclaimed their city from the Russians, a gruesome discovery was made.

Though residents are desperate to return to normality after the horrors of occupation, a mass burial site on the city’s outskirts has driven home a new reality.

This is what soldiers and locals found: Ukrainian corpses dumped in a forest by Russian soldiers, marked only by a crude wooden cross.
